Terms of use
Last updated 9 September 2026
These terms are between you and Levity7, Inc., a corporation incorporated in Minnesota, United States (“we”, “us”). They cover the TrailMesh7 mobile and web apps, the TrailMesh7 firmware, and this website. By using any of them you accept these terms. If you do not, do not use them.
1. TrailMesh7 is not an emergency service
Read this one even if you skip the rest.
TrailMesh7 can send a Group SOS to the people in your rooms over a LoRa radio. It is a convenience among a group who are already carrying compatible tags. It is not an emergency service, a personal locator beacon, or a satellite messenger, and it cannot reach the emergency services.
It is called a Group SOS in the app precisely to keep it apart from your phone’s own Emergency SOS, which does call the emergency services. They are not the same feature and one is not a fallback for the other.
It will fail to deliver an alert in ordinary, foreseeable circumstances, including but not limited to:
- no phone connected to the tag — a tag on its own cannot raise an alert at all;
- no other tag in range, or terrain between you and them;
- no GPS fix, so no position attached;
- a flat battery on either the tag or the phone;
- a tag whose region is unset, which transmits nothing while appearing healthy;
- a message lost on the air, since a broadcast is not acknowledged or retried.
Do not rely on TrailMesh7 where a failure to get help would be dangerous. Carry a personal locator beacon or satellite messenger, tell somebody your plan, and treat anything TrailMesh7 delivers as a bonus rather than a safety net. You accept the risks of backcountry and mountain activity yourself.
2. Your responsibility for lawful radio operation
TrailMesh7 configures a LoRa radio, including its region, frequency preset and transmit power. Radio spectrum is regulated, and the rules differ by country.
Operating the tag lawfully is your responsibility, including selecting the correct region for where you actually are and complying with local licensing and duty-cycle rules. We do not represent that any particular setting is lawful in your location.
3. What you may not do
You agree not to use TrailMesh7 to:
- harass, threaten, abuse, defame, or impersonate anyone;
- send unlawful content, or content that sexualises minors;
- interfere with emergency communications, or raise a false emergency;
- transmit on frequencies or at power levels you are not permitted to use;
- attempt to read, disrupt or interfere with other people’s rooms or traffic;
- reverse engineer or redistribute the firmware other than as its licence allows.
We do not tolerate objectionable content or abusive users. We cannot read your messages — they are encrypted between the devices in your room and never pass through our servers — so enforcement depends on people telling us.
4. Reporting and blocking
The app lets you block any tag, from its entry in Tags and Trackers. Blocking is local to your device: it stops that tag’s messages appearing for you. It does not remove them from anyone else’s device, and it deliberately does not suppress a Group SOS, because blocking someone is not a statement that their safety matters less.
The same menu lets you report a tag to us. Reports reach Support@levity7.com and we aim to review them within 24 hours.
What we can do in response is genuinely limited, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise: message content never reaches us, so we cannot retrieve, review or delete it. What we can do is remove a reported user’s account and their server-side data, refuse them cloud services, and act on unlawful conduct. Room-level removal is in the hands of the room’s owner, who can remove a member from the room and rotate its key.
5. Accounts
Signing in is optional; the app works fully signed out. If you sign in with Google or Apple, you are responsible for keeping access to that account secure and for activity under it.
We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms. You can remove your own data, your account, or both at any time with Settings → Danger Zone → Delete my data or account. Deleting the account is irreversible; signing in afterwards creates a new one.
6. Keys and backups
If you enable it, we store backups of your tag’s settings and rooms — including room encryption keys — and escrow your tags’ private keys. What that involves is described in the privacy policy.
Two consequences worth stating plainly:
- These are not recoverable if you delete them. A room’s identity is its key and a tag’s identity is its keypair; neither can be regenerated or reissued by us or anyone else.
- We do not guarantee backup or restore. Treat cloud backup as a convenience, not as a guarantee that a room or a tag identity can be recovered.
7. Firmware
TrailMesh7 firmware is provided for the RAK WisMesh Tag. Installing firmware carries a risk of leaving hardware temporarily or permanently unusable, particularly if it is applied to a board it was not built for — the app warns you when it cannot confirm the hardware, and you should heed that warning.
You install firmware at your own risk. We are not responsible for damage to hardware, including hardware you did not buy from us.
8. No warranty
TrailMesh7 is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, error-free, or that any message will be delivered.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Levity7, Inc. is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of TrailMesh7.
Our total liability for any claim relating to TrailMesh7 will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty US dollars.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or liabilities, so parts of sections 8 and 9 may not apply to you.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect, and the date at the top of this page will change. Continuing to use TrailMesh7 after that means you accept the revised terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
